The program is completely free and widely used all around the globe. Adobe Reader is free. However, if you need to create PDFs, convert them into Word or Excel formats and secure your documents with a password, you can upgrade the program to Acrobat Pro DC version for $14.99 per month here. Left Adobe last year and only run the reader on my Mac and this why 'Acrobat DC is available only as a part of Adobe Creative Cloud, and can only be installed and/or updated through Adobe's Creative Cloud app.' No standalone apps. Hope they lose business because of this stupid business decision.
